International Women’s Day is celebrated all around the world on March 8, but does everybody understand the importance of it?
We don’t believe so.
This is why we celebrate International Women’s Month.
A month that is dedicated to women's achievements, raises awareness against gender bias and pushes to take action for equality.
This year, we decided to share the story of 4 of our athletes & ambassadors, Krissy, Sherein, Najah & Jaqueline, who have become the incredible women they are in spite of the gender stereotypes, cultural pressures, ageism and social disadvantages they faced.
Here’s what they have to say:
What is International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day is a global day dedicated to honoring the achievements of women throughout history and all across the globe. Celebrated every year on March 8, it also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality around the world.
This year’s campaign theme: My confidence is…
Our #MyConfidence campaign hopes to inspire you to recognize how capable you are and that with self-confidence you can become the successful woman you want to be.
We gave several of our athletes a platform to speak about the insults they face on a daily basis and what makes each of them feel confident.
-
Krissy Cela
An immigrant overcoming obstacles, who became a female leader to 2 of the fastest growing brands in the UK -
Najah Hatahet
A Muslim woman, and single mum of 3 who became an incredible example to her daughters in spite of the cultural challenges she faced -
Sherein Abdelhady
A woman that used confidence to make space for herself at the gym, and even leave men in shock with her incredible strength -
Jacqueline Hooton
A personal trainer for over 20 years, focusing on helping women to stay fit and healthy in their +60s, who used confidence to overcome ageism on social media
However, this campaign just scratches the surface of the amazing community we have built over the years.
What our Women’s Best athletes want to tell you
Although each of our female athletes are very different from each other, they experience the same challenges and face similar criticism throughout their own professional journeys… because they are women. In our video, we see them facing criticism and prejudices only women face. Our athletes want you to challenge gender discrimination and cultural pressures, use it as your driving force and fight back – just as they did!
#MyConfidence
One takeaway that is particularly important from this year’s International Women’s Month campaign is: Never listen to those who doubt you.
In the face of doubt and criticism, it can be easy to lose sight of our own potential and give up on our dreams. However, our message to all the strong women out there is to never listen to those who doubt them.
Self-confidence is your fuel, the driving force that transforms all the negative judgments into motivation, action, and success. By believing in yourself and your abilities, you can achieve your goals, inspire others, and pave the way for future generations.
Let’s uplift one another as we shatter stereotypes, break down barriers, and show the world what women are truly capable of achieving.
